- Our guests included our website, myspace and facebook members, friends and family, buyers from places such as Urban Outfitters, Firebox and Harvey Nichols, neighbors in the Ladbroke Grove area, BBC2 and their crew, my mates with a video camera and microphone, some photographers, some journalists, graffiti artists that did the PAINT OFF on monday, Douglas Cordeaux from Pepe Jeans, Deborah Meaden from Dragons Den, myself, Sarah Lu and of course about 500 blank mini-me youdoodolls and one 6ft tall giant Youdoodoll
- The party was to highlight the start / launch of Youdoodoll which made its first public appearance on Dragons Den October 2007. Although the company has been going since last May, due to Dragons Den, Christmas season and the hectic New Year everything was rushed and there was no time to delay in getting everything ready and out for Christmas… which was a success, albeit a few minor and sometimes major hiccups – but what do you expect from a new company anyway!
- Pepe Jeans’ Douglas Cordeaux is good friends with Deborah Meaden and so when she mentioned the Youdoodolls to him, he wanted to meet me straight away! He’s the creative director, you know, so we have loads in common!
- The Pepe Jeans shop on Portobello road, London was where Pepe started in 1973… their first ever shop where they used to make all the clothing by hand. If you go there (its open on fri and sat only) you can still get bespoke clothes made by Pepe!
- Anyway, with their creativeness and LIVE workshop (they even have a screen printing room!) and my personalisable youdoodolls, we decided that we were a force to be reckoned with and therefore wanted to join forces and throw a party in the aid of “PERSONALISATION” and “CREATIVITY”
- The party was a success as we had the “Paint Off” on Monday where the 3 finalists of the Youdoo the pepe Wall competition, got to show their talents and skills in a head to head paint off. The guys were: James Powell who came in at 3rd, Jacobs who came in at 2nd and Giulio Bigazzi who won! The winner won a commission up to the value of £1K from Deborah Meaden to paint her a little something!
- So whilst the winner was outside painting their winning design onto the gigantic 7m x 3m wall, the guests and I were busy making our own Youdoodolls! I was printing and ironing the faces on whilst students from the London Fashion College got to work on the sewing machines making bespoke mini-outfits and crazy guises!
- Images of peoples Youdoodolls… if you were at the party maybe you will spot yours in the gallery! Check out the gallery for more pictures!
- And of course, we got a little drunk! lol
